Confidentiality

As a client in a therapeutic relationship, you have rights. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of a strong patient-doctor alliance, and you can expect complete privacy with few exceptions (listed below).  You will receive a copy of both a disclosure agreement (i.e., Informed Consent), and the HIPPA Notice of Privacy Practices, and you will have an opportunity to any questions that you may have during your first appointment, as well as subsequent sessions. Should you request communication between me and another provider or other professional, you must provide written permission allowing any release of confidential information.

There are Federal and State legal and ethical reporting requirements for Psychologists, and in these cases, confidentiality may be broken (details are enclosed in paperwork you will receive in your first meeting). Licensed Psychologists are mandated to report if a client is at risk of harming themself or someone else/others, and every attempt is made to keep all parties safe from harm.

Insurance

Client confidentiality is one of the most important elements of effective and ethical therapy.  Often clients prefer to maintain complete privacy.  Insurance companies require confidential information be provided, including diagnoses, courses of treatment, progress, and outcomes.  For those clients who prefer to preserve their confidentiality, I offer cash (credit card) or fee-for-service options. Clients paying out-of-pocket may also request a bill or receipt of payment to submit to their insurance company for reimbursement after sessions or treatment (e.g. PPO - Out of Network). Most major insurance plans are accepted as well.

Please see the Headway portal (Link provided in Contact section below) for an up-to-date list of insurance carriers covered.
